Artist Statement
Summer Blake (she/her) is a visionary artist based in Baltimore, MD. Through her intricate mandalas, she invites her audience to step away from the hubbub of life and dive deeply into a meditative exploration. Drawing on a wide variety of spiritual and cultural traditions, archetypal symbols, and universal patterns such as sacred geometry, her work explores themes of life, death, rebirth, and healing. Summer’s creative process is an transformative act, extracting, examining, and releasing parts of the self that no longer serve in order to become something previously believed impossible. Each fully realized piece is an expression of the journey from doubt, uncertainty, and fear to raw, wild surrender—learning to trust the process, and learning to trust oneself.
